Norway in the North Vision Song Contest

Norway participated in the thirty-fifth edition of the North Vision Song Contest which was hosted in St. Petersburg, Russia. The Norwegian entry was selected through the national competition Den Norsken Sangen 32, organised by the Norwegian broadcaster Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK). Norway was represented by Moroccan-Spanish-Norwegian artist Royane and the song "Click". The country was automatically qualified to the final after last edition's second place. It recieved 286 points and finished in the 10th place marking the eighth consecutive Top 10 result for the country.

Before Northvision[]

NRK confirmed on 8 January 2021 the Norwegian participation in the North Vision Song Contest 35 which would be held in Russia. Aside from their participation, the Head of Delegation also confirmed that Den Norsken Sangen 32 would take place in order to select the country's entrant. "Submissions have already opened and we can't wait to showcase more Norwegian talent. And not only... We have received some songs from other European countries, that we're still considering. The 10 lucky acts will be announced shortly." he stated.

Den Norsken Sangen 32[]

A submission period was opened by NRK from 8 January until 23 January 2021. At the close of the deadline, 584 submissions were received. A jury panel chose the 10 contenders for the national final. The competing acts and songs were revealed on 31 January 2021 during a press conference at NRK studios, presented by Heidi Ruud Ellingsen and Kåre Magnus Bergh and broadcast online at nrk.no.

The final took place on 16 February 2021 in Vallhall Arena and was hosted by Kåre Magnus Bergh and Heidi Ruud Ellingsen. Juries had to vote with the Northvision–style; 12, 10 and 8 to 1 with all the songs receiving points. After the votes of 41 international juries, Royane was crowned as the big winner of the selection with her song "Click" getting 324 points, a 17-points from runner-up Moyka.

On 22 February 2021, the semi-final allocation draw for the 35th edition of the North Vision Song Contest took place at the Old Town Hall of St. Petersburg, Russia where all the head of delegations met to generally discuss the upcoming edition of the North Vision Song Contest. Norway was allocated to vote in the second semi-final as a Big 6 member. On 7 March 2021, the NBU announced the running order for the semi-finals. Norway was drawn to perform in the second half of the final.

"Click" managed to get the support of the fans and bookers placed it in the top 10 of the betting odds. On 3 April 2021 after the results of the second semi-final, the NBU announced the final running order. Norway was decided to close the grand final performing 26th after the Czech Republic. The song came 12th in the jury voting with 116 points receiving 12 points from the Hungarian and Azerbaijani juries. Nevertheless, it came 6th with 170 points in the televoting with the highest mark from the Swedish public resulting in a 10th place which was the 8th consecutive top 10 result for the Nordic country. The country remained in the first place of the Ranking of Nations.

Spokesperson and commentators[]

In Norway, the semi-finals and final were aired on NRK1, with commentary by Markus Neby while Ole Christian Øen served as the radio commentator. The Norwegian spokesperson in the grand final was the Den Norsken Sangen runner up, Moyka.
