The ninth NorthSong was held in Athens. Twelve songs entered the competition to get a ticket for NVSC #18. After all, Amaryllis was declared the winner with her song "Gyrisa Selida".
Format[]
On December 21, ERT announced that a new format will come to pick this edition's entrant.12 songs will compete letting only one winner.It was also announced that there will be two semi-fianls,together with a second chance round.

The songs and the paritcipants were announed from December 23,2015 until January 4,2016.The semi-final took place,in January 6,2016,semi-final 1 and January 13,2016, semi-final 2 respectively.The second chance round took place in January 16,2016,while the grand final took place in January 20,2016.There were three qualifiers from each semi-final. "Center of the Universe" performed by Angelika Dusk,won the wildcard.
