North Vision Song Contest | |

North Vision Song Contest 32, often referred to as NVSC 32, was the thirty-second edition of the North Vision Song Contest. The contest was held in Luxembourg for the first time after their victory in the 31st edition. The show was hosted by Désirée Nosbusch and Vicky Krieps.
Fifty-three countries took part in the contest. Faroe Islands, France, Israel and Tunisia returned to the contest after one edition of absence each, while Armenia and Latvia decided to withdraw the contest.
Georgia's representative, Yaseniya with the song "Lyubov-Karusel" turned out to be the winner of the contest. This marked Georgia's first win and first top-ten placement. It was also the second winning song entirely performed in Russian after Ukraine's "Zerkala". Additionally, this was the second consecutive edition in which a country qualifying from the Pre-Qualification Round won the contest, following Luxembourg's victory in the previous edition. Montenegro also achieved their best result in their North Vision history placing second with Zoi. Belgium came third which resulted in their best result since Loïc Nottet's second place in the twenty-first edition. Moreover, this was also the first time ever when the entire top 3 consisted of songs performed in language other than English. Germany, Australia and the Netherlands rounded out the top six with Australia securing their highest placing to date. Out of the "Big Six" countries, Greece, Norway and the United Kingdom finished in the top ten, coming seventh, tenth and eighth respectively, with the latter barely missing out on their fourth consecutive automatic qualification. The host country, Luxembourg represented by Zaryah finished in the sixteenth place. Daniel Blume from Ireland ended up twentieth, while Malta placed last for the second time in their history after the fourteenth edition. This marked the fourth edition in a row where one of the automatically qualified countries finished last. Algeria managed to qualify from the semi-finals stage for a second consecutive edition for the first time in history, eventually placing nineteenth. Croatian representative made a final appearance for the first time since the twenty-seventh edition with La Lana ending up second to last, four points ahead of Malta's Sam Christie.
Format
Semi-final allocation draw
The draw to determine the allocation of the participating countries into their respective semi-finals took place at Hotel Le Royal Luxembourg on the 27th of April 2019. The first part of the draw determined in which semi-final the Big Six would have to vote. The second part of the draw decided in which half of the respective semi-finals each country would perform, with the exact running order determined by the producers of the show at a later date. Twenty countries will participate in both semi-finals, respectively. From each semi-final, ten countries will join the "Big 6" in the final, where a total of twenty-six countries will participate.
The thirty-eight semi-finalists were allocated into six pots, based on their geographical place and cultural similarities. Drawing from different pots helps in reducing the chance of so-called neighbour voting and increasing suspense in the semi-finals. Each time a country was drawn from the pot, its semi-final and half of the semi-final was determined.
The six pots were the following:
Pot 1 | Pot 2 | Pot 3 |
---|---|---|
Pot 4 | Pot 5 | Pot 6 |
