Pesna za Makedonija is a music competition organised by Macedonian broadcaster MRT and determines the representative for FYR Macedonia in North Vision Song Contest. The first edition of Pesna za Makedonija was held to determine the Macedonian entrant for North Vision Song Contest 5.
Origin
Pesna za Makedonija was inspired by other NVSC national selections especially the French national selection "Duels"
Participation
Both artists and songs are selected by jury members who have been chosen by MRT. The jury members are famous singers from FYR Macedonia. Then the jury will have a shortlist of 8 songs and the Macedonian HoD will decide the final 4 entrants.
Artists
A total of 4 artist (more if there are duets). Any artist from FYR Macedonia can compete in the national selection. No foreign artists are allowed to compete unless they are participating alongside an artist from FYR Macedonia.
Songs
Each artist can submit as many songs as they like, but only one song can be chosen to participate in the national selection. However, a composer can be a contributor to more than one song. It doesn't matter what country the composer is from. The artists are allowed to sing in whatever language they like, although it is preferred they sing in Macedonian or English. No cover version are allowed.
Hosting
Currently, the national selection is hosted in Kumanovo, in the Sport Hall. It is still not decided whether the host city will change in the near future but it is most likely.
Voting
The current voting format is actually very different to the one used in North Vision Song Contest. The voting is currently cast by International Juries. In each edition the amount of juries is most likely going to change depending on who can vote. The International juries get 100 points and they have distribute them between the 2 songs as long as the use all of the points. But one song must not have less than 10 points or more than 90 points.
In case of a tie, a jury from FYR Macedonia will cast their votes and the country with the highest votes will win.
