Sophia Somajo Venai (born 2 January 1985 in Stockholm, Sweden), often called Soso, is a Swedish singer, songwriter and fashion designer.
Career[]
In September 2008, Sophia Somajo released her self-written/produced debut album, The Laptop Diaries. The entire album was recorded and produced on a single laptop in her bedroom. All the songs on the album are recorded through the built-in microphone in her computer.
In 2011, she broke up with her former record label and started her own, Do It Yourself Bitch Productions. There, in the following year, she released another self-produced album, T.T.I.D.S.D.I.E.U.I.C (That Time I Dug So Deep I Ended Up in China). The album was highlighted by international publications as Interview Magazine, Dazed & Confused and blogger Perez Hilton praised the material on his blog.
Somajo chose a controversial way to release the album. She gave it away for free on The Pirate Bay. It was in a live radio show P3's Music Guide, in which she announced the approach of the minute that the album was posted. There, she also explained the motive behind this, referring to a personal letter written she had posted on her website.
Later in 2013 she released the song "Kids" with the artist Style of Eye. The song is written and performed by Sophia Somajo and produced by DJ / producer Style of Eye with a guest appearance by the artist Elliphant. The song went platinum in Sweden with his text on today's youth and the phenomenon of "hipster".
In 2014, she released her first clothing line of her own brand KLAUN Collective, which she has with her fiance and photographer Riccardo T. Castano.
In the autumn of 2015 Sophia participated as a vocalist and songwriter together with rapper Michel Dida on the all industrial-punk band KRIGET's EP "Fazed".
On 4 December 2015, she released Somajo own music again under its original name Sophia Somajo with the single "Klein Blue" and the song "The Last Summer" with Seinabo Sey. On April 21, 2016 the single "Sapphire" was released belonging to her forthcoming EP Freudian Slip Vol.1.
